dgoyette 12 #1 Posted June 14, 2009 Yesterday I got a D-180 from a fellow WH fanatic. It has the Kohler twin, Ark Loader, front and rear PTO, and a 3 point hitch. He also gave me a very large tiller, a super heavy snowblower, and a garden plow. He never ran these on the tractor so I will have to give them a going over. The rear tires are tubed and loaded also. I also got a weight box filled with steel and manuals and paperwork. Today I changed the oil and the fuel filter and greased all the zerks. Tomorrow I will change the plugs and check the air filter. He was even nice enough to deliver it to my house, which was greatly appreciated. We used the loader (hooks welded on) and chains to load the snowblower and tiller which was fun. Before someone asks I paid $2200 for everything (I always want to know this too). I love this tractor! Photos below of course. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Hi Curtis, I am in Maine - I think I will add that information to my signiture line. Seems like good info to put there. Looks like you are a great source for info for the D180 - that is super. dgoyette 12 #15 Posted June 17, 2009 No I did not get the legs for the loader. Seems like I could make a set fairly easy though. Does anyone think it is strange that I would have a K532 in the D180? That is what is stamped on it. That is a 20hp engine isn't it? I looked foe a tag with the spec # on it but it must be covered up. Can someone tell me where this would be? Thanks! dgoyette 12 #18 Posted June 17, 2009 I will get the model number off the tractor...it will be interesting to see if I have a D-180 with a K532 or a D-200 with D180 stickers. Edit: I checked the model number and so far I can find very little info. One post seems to indicate it might be a 1974 D-180. Anyone know a good place to verify? I am thinking I have a 1974 D-180 with a K532 replacement engine which is just fine with me! I seem to have a different hydro speed control lever than I have seen in other pictures and it is different from the 1975 D series manual I have. It seems to have two reverse?? But when I use the lower one the tractor will sometimes stall. Anyone else seen or have this hydro speed control set up? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

The lower slot that you think is reverse is actually supposed to engage the parking brake. If you do that while moving with a load you run the risk of shearing the parking brake pawl (pretty common anyway in a 30 year old hydro) or doing significant damage to the rear end. The Original 18-auto had a park brake engagement lever on the "hump" b/t your legs. The 74 D's moved it up on the dash board. In 75 it found it's way to the DCL (direction control lever). After problems with misuse surfaced the 76's put it back on the dash and had a cover plate blocking out the slot on the DCL. I might have my dates off, but that's the gist of it. dgoyette 12 #22 Posted June 18, 2009 Thanks Steve. This is very interesting as I have a separate parking brake on the panel below the instrument panel. Luckily I have pretty much just been cleaning here up and doing mainenance items. I have not tried to reverse except from a complete stop. d180man 5 #25 Posted June 19, 2009 Hi drop the #9 off your # is 1-0611 and it comes up as a 1974 and if the engine is a k532 i would say some one put a new eingine on it a one time it should b a k482s here is a small video of use using our old chevy to pull the stuck wheel weight yes it looks dum but it worked but if you look and the first of the video it has the same speed control set up ! and it is a 1974 d-180 and the lower slot is the parking brake ! i look at your photo is the 2 brake hooked up does it work ? :ychain: Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
