What Deck

Recommended Posts

I am in the process of repairing my deck and while I can fix the metal I think I will be needing spindles and pulleys. Does a chart exist of what new equipment will work since I assume original probably doesn’t exist anymore? I have a C-120

Welcome to Red Square.

What is the width of cut? 42" or 48"?

42" the rear height adjuster is on the right.

48" the rear height adjuster is on the left.

Sitting on the tractor it is on the right, the same as the discharge. So it’s a 42”. Do you know of any type of cross reference for spindles and pulleys?

I feel like I’m getting closer but I’m still confused on what I’m looking at. How do I know the number?

Clean the paint off with some acetone and the numbers are stamped into that metal plate.

The tractor model number is 61-12K802 which is a 1976 model.

The 1976 42" side discharge deck was model 65-42MS01 or 65-42MS02.

The tractors did not come with a deck so the dealers would add what they had in stock at the time. It could be a 1975 model deck or one later if the original sale was not made in 1976.

These decks all look the same including the last in 2012. It is the bearings that changed the most other than the hole in the blade.

In the mower spindle charts if you click on a model number it will take you to a page that shows the original spindle and any replacement designs that followed.

For a replacement spindle...NOT KEYED...the cheapest would be those for a model 05-42MS05.  That COMPLETE spindle is #111726 (was 110172).  The left and Right pulleys are # 109967 and the CENTER pulley is #110148.  Spindle belt #6738 is correct for this 42" deck.  A new blade set is # 106636.

There is also a KEYED spindle assy # 107405 (108848) but the price for it is nearly $300...and the pulleys are more pricey too.

You can go to this website to check out prices, but be prepared...  Enter model # 05-42MS05 and clik thru the schematics.
