formariz 11,995 #1 Posted June 24, 2021 My place has all kinds of hills and turns. I find the stock seat on the 520H too slippery and the back rest too inclined backwards. I am constantly repositioning myself while I mow. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good replacement with an adjustable back rest and perhaps a bit of a suspension to it?
roadapples 6,983 #2 Posted June 24, 2021 Same problem with mine. Which is why it's going to the show tomorrow. At least has 2 good arm rests...

Stepney 2,351 #4 Posted June 24, 2021 My old snowmobiles are terrible about that.. 2 cycle oil spews from the carb and gets into your lap, an thus, the seat.. I always found a VERY small spray of belt dressing on a rag, rubbed over the seat, tacks them up nice without being nasty, smelly, or dirty.. and it'll come off again soon enough anyway.
roadapples 6,983 #5 Posted June 24, 2021 Years ago I had a kid clean up my 68 chevelle. He put silicone on the vinyl seats to make them shine. You had to wear your seat belt to stay behind the wheel... 2
Lee1977 7,052 #6 Posted June 24, 2021 It's the 520-H at is not stable that big Onan's weight is not centered on the frame cause it to flop around on any uneven spot. I have to get out on the fender to keep the upper side wheel down. My C-120/180 with the 18 Vanguard is like a mountain goat compared to the 520. You have to get at some gosh awful angles with it and then it just lightens up enough to spin. I have looked over at the 520 and the upper wheel is 3 or 4" off the ground spinning in the breeze. 1

Like Roadapples I had a slippery car seat back in the day, I bought a new to me VW convertible probably around 1965...Like any 20 year old guy I was interested in two things.. Cars and girls..... and more girls ... I polished that old VW up and it shined up like a new penny, Armor-All had just come on the market and I applied a zillion coats to the complete interior. My best friends girl was daringly sporting a two piece bathing suit and hopped in the passenger seat .. off we went for a ride and the first stop sign she slid right off the seat onto the floor losing her top in the process.. I have been Brand Loyal to Armor-All for 55 years now !!!! Mike B 2 1 8

Tuneup 1,433 #9 Posted June 24, 2021 516H - same thing with the light front end on the right side. I'm on a fairly steep angle and have to turn right through it. Sitting on the fender for "safety". Gosh - did this as a kid on the Simplicity 707 but just leaned along with it and Dad didn't give a hoot. Does anything change? I'm pushing 60. Anyway, the right wheel doesn't come up, thank God, but does skip on the ground. Do have concrete wheel weights to mount. Rears already filled. That'll solve it. I haven't tried this hillside on the 125 with its ags. Might be a fun ride - always ready to turn it downhill if I hit the balance point but, happily, nowhere near it. Maybe a thread of picks with Wheel Horses at angle would be a fun thing?
kpinnc 13,896 #10 Posted June 24, 2021 First off- no laughing! I use a "roid" pad because it has little rubberized grips for this exact issue when mowing the hills in the pasture. I don't have roids, but the cushion keeps yer behind in the same spot. The memory foam cushion is somewhat comfy as well... I've looked for a grippy seat cover with no luck for a long time. My wife got it for me, and I swore that I wouldn't use it. ...then I tried it and it's pretty awesome. Plus it gave my wife something to laugh at! 1

Why do I think some of you guys will be trying this over the summer? I fear alot of slapped faces and dash-busted lips in the future by would be copycats!

Satin seat covers have the same effect and the ladies love how soft they feel when they get in the truck.
dodge78 94 #17 Posted June 25, 2021 Some people have been repairing their seats with Plastidip or Flexseal. I wonder if it might provide some traction.
