First year Cub Cadet.

Guys,

I know nothing of Cubs. I responded to a FBMP ad for a cub basket case. I ended up with what I believe is a 1961 Cub. The guy I got it from completely disassembled it, sand blasted and primed everything. He told me the 7hp Kohler ran perfect before disassembly. Seemed like a solid gent and I believe him. I got this for the price of the sandblasting and I’m excited to delve into the world of cubs. Infidelity.....

They are fun little tractors l owned one about a decade ago and had intentions of restoring it but never “got around tuit”!  That will be a fun one to put back together!

Good luck👍🏻

I still think the one of these my neighbor got new in 1963 or 1964, that I was practically dying to have a chance to drive, started my (long unfulfilled) interest in garden tractors. In searching for a solid GT last year, when I finally had the resources and legitimate reason to buy, I was focussing on WH and Cubs. Happened to find a solid WH first. But if a nice Cub "jumped up" on my trailer, I wouldn't push it off!

I had one similar back in the early 80s. Can’t remember the model number.

Did you check the serial #, the cub collectors go nuts for the low number ones

I have 2 1961 cubs and love them!! They are even consecutive serial numbers, 14,882 and 14,883

Here is a pic of the one Dad and I restored about 15 years ago and it still looks good and we use it. I have the driveshaft out right now, so haven't used it this summer.

First pic is right after we finished it and next is about 4 years ago after I have taken it to the carwash and cleaned her up.
