B-100 61-10K802 Wire Harness Guide

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

i inherited a B-100 61-10K802 thats pretty beat up, mainly the wiring was shredded. I can find plenty of wiring diagrams and am in the process of  measuring the leads using string to go from one component to the next. while im

mechanically inclined, i dont have much experience in electrical specifics. Since the harness was so badly frayed, corroded, and melted, i have no reference to replace the OEM spec awg of most of the wires in the harness.. To be honest i dont think the wiring was even oem. Normally it wouldn't be an issue for me to replace proper wires gauges from component to component, but because quite a few wires were melted and the solenoid has no marking on it, i want to be as thorough as possible. If anyone can help me out by marking the AWG of the wire section. I edited a diagram to label all the wires and typed up a legend to make it as simple as possible for you guys. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

also, I know Labeled each section individually even though i assume the AWG on each side of the various switches and components are the same but like i said, i just want to be as thorough as possible759538841_wheelhorsewiregauge.png.84f3cbcf071dfa9b5da9c4ca61608b19.png

On the B and C series the wiring gauge is pretty simple.

Provided you're doing a stock rebuild use 14 for everything except the battery cables.

For those I use 4 gauge.

Use ALL copper wire. Not CCA or some other blend.

I buy 7 conductor trailer wire harness in bulk. Comes in a protective outer shell with 7 different colors. Makes a nice neat harness.

Heat shrink is your friend.

Happy wiring!

We do not have wiring diagrams for the 1976 B-Series.

We have 1975 and 1977 which are different.

1975 uses a 4-wire push button pto switch.

1977 uses a 2-wire ball pto switch.

Both diagrams are on this page. Click on the picture.

I don't want to confuse the issue but many times an amp meter will cause problems and a lot of us have changed over to a volt meter. The drawing below is by @BOB ELLISON and replaces the amp meter. The relay Bob used is a very common item that can be found at any auto store.

Be sure to buy good quality electrical connectors like the ones at NAPA or ACE, not the ones from Harbor Freight.

Use dielectric grease on all connections. They'll never corrode...

PERFECT! you're all awesome i really appreciate it!! @ebinmaine The battery cables were the only two that are usable. I might just spring for new ones though while im at it. Thanks for the tip, i have quite a bit of wire from various salvage projects and purchased for various rebuild projects, but if i dont have the right stuff ill definitely get the good stuff. Do you have any particular vendors to recommend?. Preferably from a mom and pop? i dont mind paying extra to support someones livelihood instead of helping some big box shops ceo buy his 9th McMansion. @gwest_ca  Thank you i was wondering which would be the best diagram to use because i have no reference on what the original wiring was so that's just what info i needed! @953 nut oh yea the amp meter was toast so ill definitely so the voltmeter modification. I bought a delphi weatherpack awhile back for a yerfdog gocart project i was doing for a customer that wanted to waterproof his electrical system so i was planning on using a few of those. @roadapples Great idea about the grease, i actually have some left over from when i did my coil packs, plugs and plug wires in my car, so that'll be perfect. Is there a particular polarity for the two rectifier to engine wires on the engine side? Those two werent even there. Looks like he just snipped them just past the heat shrouding on the engine side of the connection.

Thank you for supporting small business and buying local.

My Honey and I do the same as often as practically possible.

I don't have a particular vendor for wiring but a Google search might reveal something at least 🇺🇸 made.

Who does that?????

No polarity.  That's the AC portion of the circuit.

Wire the voltmeter to the "I" terminal so you have a reading both during cranking and engine running.

Keep us posted and remember us 5 year olds like pictures.
