P220g - Temp sensor

Quick question here...

The temp sensor on the front of the P220g block - does this sensor kill the engine when it gets too hot? Or does it just trigger the warning light on the dash?

I thought it did both.

Per the wiring diagram for the '88-'89, it is warning lamp only. I don't know if it differs for other years.

Turns on the warning lamp only.

Sorry I have a Toro groundsmaster with a P220, and the temp sensor grounds the coil as well. I guess all my toys run together sometimes.
