Throttle and choke cable routing

Recommended Posts

GMcC

Recently purchased a 1973 12-8 (no name/Raider)., (although have since determined it has been repowered with a 14hp

Kohler with magneto ignition). As the throttle and choke cables were rusted somewhat and the insulation on the throttle cable melted from lying on the exhaust,I have secured new replacement. Although trivial, what are the proper routing for the cables ( dash to engine) ?. Current ones were run between fuel tank and fuel tank support pan, of which just doesn’t seem correct, including choke cable ran directly across top of engine( probable as it is too short thus chose shortest route. Photos of routing from “beginning to end” would be deeply appreciated as trying to put things back right. Rewired entirely as it looked as if  blindfolded  Edward Scissorhand had been in there last.

An apt description for many of these poor tractors.

I've gotten into the habit of literally removing the entire wiring harness and starting from scratch building my own electrical system.

As you figured that's not correct.

Cables lead through holes out from under the tank mount and travel forward.  NOT rubbing on the bottom of the tank.

I don't have any pics of them. Others will be along...
