Deck height adj. question 520 w/60" deck

This may be kind of a stupid question but have always used the older C-series tractors to mow with. I picked up a 520H 60" deck and there seems to be no adjustment for the deck height. I am used to the threaded rod with wheel near the lower portion of the dash that you adjust. That is obviously not present on the 520. The only adjustments I see are the gauge wheels at the rear of the deck and the threaded mechanism that attaches to the bar for the gauge wheels and then connects to the lift or draft bars on top of the deck. Would that raise the front of the deck? Should the front wheels on the deck carry the weight or just catch the deck if you hit a low spot? I didn't get an owners manual so I am kind of going at this blind. Thanks.

I think you are right, I do not own a 60in deck but have 3 hydros and none of them have a deck height adjustment knob. What you can do is adjust the deck height with the adjuster lever on the rear of the deck and level with the threaded rod so that when you drop the deck it is at the right height. Good luck :thumbs2:

If my memory serves me the front anti-scalp wheels should be set to 3/8" to your cutting height. The rear deck wheels are your height adjustment. I will look at my 60" deck book when I get back home and report for sure. The 60" deck weighs a bunch and on mine I found the lift cylinder binding on the left side running board. I loosened it and moved it about 3/16" further out and it is not rubbing any more and I get a higher lift.

Carl is correct on the anti-scalp wheel adjustment. The proper method of adjustment is to set your rear gauge wheels to the cutting height you want. Then mak sure your anti-scalp wheels are set to their highest setting. Then level the deck by adjusting the adjusting bolt at the rear of the deck in the middle. Then re-adjust the scalp wheels to 1/4 to 3/8 clearance. Be sure to do all this on level concrete.
