gwest_ca-(File Mod) 10,498 #2 Posted May 16, 2021 Welcome to the forum. If this uses the 6-sided belt are you getting it on correctly? Garry

Brockport Bill 1,388 #4 Posted May 17, 2021 i have 1989 -- 312-8 with 37 inch side deck --- are you running belt on the inside slot of the p.t.o. drive? if not perhaps that could change belt angle? Just guessing ??? j
matzopie 0 #5 Posted May 17, 2021 everything is as it should be. this is happening on a newer deck i bought. i compared the original deck to the newer one and noticed a difference in the front idler pullys. will swap out and see if this solves the problem. rlrnot 39 #6 Posted May 18, 2021 Are you using a 6 sided belt and does your mule drive have 2 vee pulleys? Some 37 inch decks do not use 6 sided belts and consequently have 1 vee pulley and 1 flat pulley on the mule drive. I suppose this could be the issue. AND decks using normal v-belts have FLAT idlers on the deck!! Edited May 18, 2021 by dcrage
rlrnot 39 #8 Posted May 18, 2021 That is correct. Decks using 6-sided belts have vee idlers on the deck.
