Interlock switch

Has anyone found a replacement for this switch? It is the transmission interlock switch, on a C series tractor. I need one for a 175. Looks like it was used on hydro models only

Per that file, my 17KS02, doesn't use that switch, if I am reading it right. But the hole is there. The hardware is there, The wires are there. Sure wish the switch was there.

It is there but I put it there ------ 01-17KS02*

The reason for the lists is to try to figure out what models use what. The online parts lists shared with other models do not tell us what is used. Only an original parts list will identify the correct parts.

If we have an original parts list for one of the other models in the list that is a good indicator of what the rest of the similar models used. Not the best but all we have.

Wonder if there is room for a pto push button switch which is still available? It is a NO (normally open) switch for 2 circuits. You could shrink sleeve the unused terminals.

I bought a momentary contact, push button, with 1/2"  mounting. I see no reason why it shouldn't work.

I don't either. What does it do - closes in neutral for starting?

If it works post the switch info you use and will make a note in the file for the switch.

I can do that, but it may be a long while before I get to the 175.

Yes, it's normally open. Won't crank with out your foot on the brake, if working correctl.

.Although, I have yet to find a wiring diagram for a 175A. I am assuming, the diagram for the 125A would be the same, except for the battery ignition, verses the magneto ignition.

I got all my mowers cleaned up, so I brought the 175 up to check out the switch. It seems to work fine, Although, I think my brake mechanism is a little wonky, and might need some attention in the future. Switch closes when you apply the brake, opens when you let up. The first pic is from my 125A. The small piece of metal in the circle depresses the switch. This piece is missing on my 175. This can allow the striker on the brake mechanism, to go past the switch, and not be able to return. I'll have to fix that.  I think the switch was ~ $5.00 at the local hardware store.

Looks like a perfect solution. A piece of metal strapping/banding may work.

Here are the diagrams. You can view each page if you click on the fuzzy picture. Also can download the pdf's from that page.

:thanks: I am surprised none of these show magneto ignition, but it's better than nothing.

In 1980 the B-Series and the C-161 Twins have magneto ignition but that wiring is different.

What do you have with a magneto?

This has been switched to an 18HP Briggs Twin. Maybe the original motor was a battery ignition. :dunno:

That switch is still available from Partstree, but @ $88.00, I think my $5  switch will work just fine.

Glad you are refurbishing the safety mechanism instead of merely circumventing it.  Nice work!
