Not sure it's possible.

Really not necessary.

The points ignition system on a Kohler K is among the best ever made.

Why might you be asking?

About 6 years ago I purchased an electronic replacement for a 14 hp Kohler for a C145.   The points remain in place and still function but  very few amps go through them so they won't wear out or pit. Mine was still firing until I sold sold it a month ago.  Nothing is removed and only the electronic device is attached so if return to points system could be done in a few minutes.   I purchased it from  Kirk Engines Inc., if I remember it was about 30 dollars.

If you have any links or information I'd be curious to read up on it.

Had a Kohler k301, engine hadn't ran in years!  Fired right up.  points didn't corrode in all those years. Don't even think i can find replacement point in the EU.

I know it's pretty easy on a Briggs

Points durability on a Briggs was decent though not as good from my experiences.

Briggs though, you have to pop the flywheel.

I'm working on a K91 in an RJ and I'm putting in a Nova/Atom chip so that i don't have to keep filing the points once a year when the owner uses it. Same as a mag coil in a chainsaw.

Can you elaborate on that?

Any videos online?

Just general information I can see.

I will have video in the future, for now just YouTube installing Nova ignition or Nova chip.  I've done it many times with chainsaws to eliminate the points and condenser. works great! You just need to have a Magneto ignition, NOT a battery/coil ignition.

The Kohler Magnums have the magneto, K series is battery/points/coil.  you would need a Magnum setup with Bearing plate, Magneto, flywheel, and shroud.

If you wanted an efficient points setup use Dave Kirks Points-saver or Transdensor as it's called now.

I've had one of Dave's setup's in a Cub Cadet 123 for over 15 years, never had to file them yet! Starts on the first crank too!
