Now I know how they introduced the magnums in 87’ and the k241 correlates to the m10, k301 to 12 and so on, however are the magnums the exact same as there older counter parts?

So would it be true to say the internals are the same like bore, stroke, etc.?

The blocks did not change much between K and M models. Many 10 and 12hp between the two both have "K301" cast above the PTO bearing.

As has already been stated, ignition type, and flywheel bearing plate are where they differ. Points cover and starter mounting is different too. Cranks, pistons, rods, cams and valves are the same from K241/ M10 and so on.

The crank shaft is different in the Magnums. The K-series will run with out balance gears, don't think the Magnum will, they have either 2 or 3 balance gears.

Are you sure about this??  i do not know of any 3 balance gear units.  Some older k did not have balance gears  but most  big blocks did.

A quick look at K341 and Magnum 16 shows same crankshaft part numbers for various specs

Your right. It's just some models, may be for Sears junk. I saw the pictures years ago, some models use the same crank shaft M12 thru M16. That is where I saw the three balance gears  on the M16.
