slufoot733 70 #1 Posted April 24, 2021 I have the engine from my 1978 D200 on the bench for a complete rebuild. Last winter the #2 connecting rod disintegrated while moving snow. While the crank is at the machine shop I cleaned and inspected everything and am almost ready to order parts. I measured the pistons and cylinder bore and was quite surprised to find they were bigger than they should be. I made multiple measurements at different locations and found the pistons and bore were too big for a K532. In 1993 we had a monster snow storm (22" in 24hrs). The D was used a lot and the engine seized up. We had a short block installed. It now appears that the short block was a K583 instead of a K532. The numbers match almost perfectly. The only difference between the two engines is the bore/pistons/rings. Good thing I found this before ordering new parts!
