so I have couple probs with my 252h #39 and #17 on steering are sloppy 39 will move up and down couple inches moving from center. would like to redo them with hemi joints but turns on end of 39 dont have much room.guessing spindles were it mounts are egged it will bind then snap when turn hard.any ideas anyone redo theres.also having problem burning drive belts motor pulley has some pitting I've sanded down but other pulleys seem ok I'm going to order new tension spring thinking it might be weak but cant figure that out thanks in advance

I'm not familiar with that model but if the pins on #39 are still good, how about drilling the holes in the spindles #7 larger and install bushings?

Heim joint #17

Tighten the fan gear on #13 to the steering shaft gear on #23 by adding shim(s) like #14 - 15

#54 looks like a bushing too to inspect that and replace if necessary

Like most WH tractors it's combination of all the worn parts that add up until the slop of the steering is bad so going through it all to figure it out will tighten it up. Worn axle holes can be drilled to 7/8" and bushed for the spindles.

Burning belts is from slipping so tension would be the first thing. If they're being chewed up then there is another issue with something rubbing

:text-welcomeconfetti:  if your movement is an actual couple inches, something has to be broken, not worn.  Pictures of the sloppy joints might help, or a video posted on YouTube and linked here work well too.

it's a poor design weight of 39 makes it drop at back cuz it's not centered. 42 is a bushing I've tried to shim it at washer 44 but that tightens it up and could barely steer it. really needs some kind of ball joint instead of pins think I will try to remake 39 out of round stock put hemis on that and weld a tab on that for 17 and hemi that but I'll look into fan gear and that too

Sounds a good idea to rework them.

this pins i see also on an MTD Steering, that wears pretty fast.

i changed mine with Golf Cart Heim‘s, the work pretty nice M12

They be sure totally oversized, but i like the possibility to grease them.

With two 90deg. together welded Nuts you will have a ability to setup your Steering as you like.
