Jesse Rieber 28 #1 Posted March 15, 2021 What other Onan or Kohler engines can I use to replace the one in my D 160? I see a lot of different Onans for sale and also know that Kohler produced a 2 cylinder but I do not know if it was used in the D 160.
pacer 3,176 #2 Posted March 15, 2021 The 'D' series - D160, D180, D200 are all basically alike engine mounting wise. In the 160 along with your Onan there was also used the Koehler K341 (16hp) (a beast of a single cyl). On the 180 there was a twin K482 (18hp). On the 200 was the twin K532 (20hp). With the K341 parts availability are still pretty good, and are likely to be more of them available (this engine is probably THE most desirable, its a beast!), on the 2 big twins, parts are becoming a bit more scarce, but are also good engines and very powerful. All of these would be a direct crossover to your frame with only possible rerouting of wiring/choke/throttle.
Jesse Rieber 28 #3 Posted March 15, 2021 Thank you that was very helpful. My onan is likely in not bad shape but needs some rebuild. So I'm debating whether to do that or switch it out.
