Old312-8 11 #1 Posted March 9, 2021 So today, my 312-8 tractor would not fire up. Gave it a few cranks on every choke setting and throttle setting. Checked for spark, had spark. Checked for fuel, had fuel coming through tank but not up to the carburetor. Line from the fuel diaphragm was not clogged, so it was the diaphragm. Pulled it off, and I noticed something. The arm that goes in the block to the crankshaft broke clean off, and was now rattling around in the oil. (Probably broke on startup this morning) Anyone else had this issue happen? Seemed pretty surprising, had a good laugh considering I did an oil change after I saw the arm broke off and it dropped out of the drain plug.

oldredrider 2,553 #3 Posted March 9, 2021 You got lucky. Very lucky. Had a fuel pump arm break off on 1 of mine and it took out the whole bottom end. I only use electric pumps now.
