Isn't that neat!  I don't think I've seen that anywhere!  Wonder if it makes a difference?

Anyone recognize the trans?

Long ago, before I had my first garden tractor I eagerly waited for the next edition of Mother's Earth News to follow along on a build from scratch garden tractor. Fascinated me!  So does this!

Some old trucks had a brake on the drive shaft.  Maybe some old cars too...

I think even the muffler was homemade:

The Rockwell military axles have a pinion brake. I don’t know if it’s OEM but it works

Looks like an automotive rearend  with drum brakes. Probably an open differential so there could be your track project Dennis.

I agree that it's a cut down auto rear.

Current thoughts on the track drive is a half track using just idlers in the back.  Subject to change of course...

All MOPAR products had the parking brake on the transmission output from the '30s to he '50s.

COOL!!!!

That thing's worth $450 all day long.

Hydraulic steering brakes to boot. Looks like that big center handle is the clutch

Anybody wanna grab it and bring to the big show? Just throw'n that out there if someone doesn't grab it

Truck/auto rear does lend itself to independant brakes for sure.  One thing I often miss on my WHs...
