Briggs 11.50 Obsolete Carburetor-794588 & Governor Setting

Recommended Posts

"Manic-Mechanic"

Briggs Horizontal 15C114 0131 E8 has already become “obsolete”, bought 2016.

There is a carb which utilizes the needle & seat, rubber seat.

The listed part number under this engine brings up a totally different (part 594014).

Perhaps someone has had this issue and can give me a part number?

I can find a whole early carb for 83.00 or the upgraded carb for 68.00

I would prefer the 6.00 kit!

Many thanks to Gary for this link and it does show the original carb.

I went up one engine spec number and ended up at this Toro parts list. The carb may be what you are looking for

Now it’s time to find proper kit 398118 and try the seat, an OEM seat! Lol! Well, the OEM seat fit fine. The float still looked high to me tho’

I run it and the surging was still there, not as bad but annoying all the same! I decided to check the governor setting, why not, half way there

I found the spring bound up and fixed that.

I was really hoping this was the issue, but still had my doubts as the bind wasn't that much into the length of the spring.

Kind of back at square one! Ruled out the governor and now thinking this carb is just clogged some where's above the needle & seat.

I thoroughly cleaned it with fine tools in every hole and fine wire as needed being careful not ream out anything!

Aside from totally soaking this carb for days, the other carburetor is looking more and more attractive!

(Perhaps this is why the engineers changed the carburetor?)
