jimt1971 237 #1 Posted May 27, 2009 Hello All, I thought I would share my newest tractor with you all. It was a Craigslist find for $50.00. I always wanted a 1054 but never thought I could afford one so he it is. I just need to find a dash, shifter and steering arm now. Thanks, Jim

jimt1971 237 #10 Posted May 27, 2009 Yes it has a later model engine. The original engine seized so they but this one on I still have not tried to start it. The owner threw out the deck years ago because of rust issues and they junked the snowblower and the the snow cab years ago too. Jim
linen beige 15 #11 Posted May 27, 2009 Even if it doesn't run you have $50 worth of parts if nothing else. The wider front tires point toward it being a 1054A. What's the serial number?
wheel horse 1045 2 #12 Posted May 27, 2009 what is the differencw between a 1054A and a 1054 or is there?
linen beige 15 #13 Posted May 27, 2009 The 1054 A had wider front tires. Different spindles were used because of the wider rims. They also came out of the factory with turf treads on the back instead of ags. all of these parts are interchangable between the two models. They used a different model number transmission (same case, slightly different on the inside.). Because the wider tires and turfs can easily be fitted to a 1054 the serial number is about the only way to know for sure. I currently have a set of ags on my 1054A. i don't know where the cut off was for the '64s, but mine is in the 50,000 range. Kohler started a new system of engine serial numbers in '65 that added a letter prefix to the number. So if you have one with an engine serial that starts with "A" and looks original, chances are it's a 1054A.

jimt1971 237 #15 Posted May 28, 2009 Hello All, I was out in the shop tonight and yes the engine is a k341 and the tractors serial number is 49186. Does that make it a 1054A? Thanks, Jim
HorseFixer 2,013 #16 Posted May 28, 2009 What is the Spec # Of Yer Engine? That May Help Also. :omg:
linen beige 15 #17 Posted May 28, 2009 What is the Spec # Of Yer Engine? That May Help Also. Pssst. Uhhh......Read the other posts Duke. It doesn't have it's original engine, so spec numbers won't help. Besides, the 1054 and 1054A both used the same spec #. JimT, That serial is barely more than a thousand below mine. Anybody else know of a 1-54A with a lower serial number?
