JamesBe1 84 #1 Posted May 26, 2009 Not sure if this is the right forum, but here goes. I just finished cutting my grass Saturday, and was heading back to the barn, and all of a sudden the spool valve for the hydraulic deck lift sprung a major leak. Unfortunately for me, I had the cover plate off of the center of the tractor, and when it let go, it sprayed hot oil all over me. I immediately stopped and pushed it back to the barn. I was sopping up major oil that had not only sprayed on me, but dripped down onto the deck and all over everything else. It was a real mess. I didn't get a chance to look at it thoroughly until today, and I think this is pretty odd. When I fire up the tractor and engage the hydro, the oil is spraying out of a seam in the spool valve where two of the three body parts come together. This is a first for me. I never even thought this would be possible. Has anyone ever had an experience like this? Is the spool valve rebuildable? Anybody know where I can get a used one? What other tractors did they use this same spool valve on? I pulled the spool valve out earlier today, and it is sitting on my bench. I guess I am going to disassemble it tomorrow and see what's up with it. I hope I can get it sorted out in time for my next grass cutting. I know I am tossing out a lot of questions to the group, but this is one of the stranger problems that I have had with a wheel horse. Thanx, James
