Post # 2... Why.... Why do idiots do this... WHY

Recommended Posts

Docwheelhorse

Bought a brand new 7473 belt ($46) for my C160 because it wasn't shifting right and squeeled alot... saw it was one of those Green Gates cheater belts and figured that was issue. Decided to do a full service as I knew transaxle had water... siggghhhh

THE NEW BELT DOESNT FIT.... WTH???

OH!!! SOME IDIOT BEING CUTE PUT A HYDRO 5" PULLEY ON ENGINE.

Now I get to try and get it off without wrecking anything and I need to find an 8 speed 1 1/8 crank pulley to make it right.

Some people should not have tools or Wheel Horses...

🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

Stay Safe Everyone

Tony

Just leave that pulley on there and enjoy the extra speed. I've never had any problems at all using the TSC kevlar belts to drive a tractor. The squealing is probably caused from the frozen water in the trans. Clean the pulley surfaces

No frozen water... its been squeeling for the 6 months I've owned it and it just doesn't de-clutch correctly... it grinds the gears when shifting in. It will be corrected

Bad idler?   Lack of a bet guard?   Engine drive pulley belt guide missing?

Yeah more idiots think they know how to "fix" wheel horses everyday. Like you, I also want mine to work correctly.

Tony I have seen worse than that for tranny fluid. The chunky kind. I have frozen 4 speeds come back to life by flushing them out.

That how the cream color Behr interior paint that I painted the living room with last weekend looked before I stirred it ;).

Did it have a belt guard on it? Can't imagine it would have fit without modification since the angles of the belt would be wrong.

As others have said, belt guards help keep the belt in place and help disengage the belt when the clutch is pressed in (im sure you already knew that though).

I came to the conclusion, some idiot welded the hubs to the axles. :angry-cussingwhite:

Meanwhile the axle-seals are leaking.:angry-steamingears:

You probably have already done this, but make sure to replace the shifter boot... to make sure any milky stuff doesn’t come out of the tranny later in life!

The toughest part for a new owner is knowing what is stock and what is not. You found the larger pulley. I would not have had a clue. Nice attention to detail!
