pto on d-180 wont disengage

having trouble with wheelhorse 18 auto d-180 pto that wont disengage. Not sure where to start

Welcome.  When you operate the PTO handle does the rod and spring in pic one make the Triangular piece (second pic ) rock back and forth???

 

What is hooked up to your PTO.. If there is no load on it some will spin even if disengaged.

The rod does go back and forth.  I haven't tried it connected to anything yet.  I will try this to see what happens.  Will let you know if this works.  Thank you.

There is a brake on the PTO that may need adjusting.

If its not connected to anything - deck? - then it will  almost certainly spin, freewheeling. My D-160 which I use for a general hauler and didnt have it connected to anything would spin for what seemed like an hour after turn off, jingling/tingling and got on my nerves,--- so I took the whole thing off! problem solved! Once you get the deck or ?? connected it'll quit.
