Check your ammeter connections.

Did that. I replaced the solenoid also. I'm freaking lost. Could the regulator be shorted out? Wondering if it could backfeed.

Yessir. Pto is off. I have no diagram to show the other switches. I know of the seat switch, pto switch, brake switch. I believe those are all it has. I have no headlights to boot. Btw... Who are or were your relation that lived here?

First things first :text-welcomeconfetti: to :rs:

Go structured.

Do You have an Meter aside?

check first if Battery is fully charged. About 12,8V in idle

check the Ground Wires if they be tight and clean ( derust under the Screws for good conduction)

Search for Fuses, depending on machine there be differently Located.

check the main Powerwire to Keyswitch.

Check the Key Terminal B+ if there is Battery Power.

Check the Ign Terminal on -  key is in run position - it will see Power.

if so check if Acc terminal on Key have power while key is in run position.

Check the Clutch switch - if it have one - if it works and wires have good conduction.

Power to one side of the ammeter and not the other? The ammeter has failed.

Can you hook both wires to the same terminal? Does not matter which one. Or join the wires permanently and insulate the connection.

Best repair is to replace the ammeter with a voltmeter but there is some wiring that needs to be changed.

Try and put power directly to the starter.

Check the battery cables, insure they are not lose at the connector. Have had the same problem and the ground wasn't secured to the battery clamp .

Do you have the Briggs and Stratton engine or a Kohler engine? Hydro transmission or gear?

Before spending money on parts it is important to determine which part isn't working. What we will be doing is bypassing components to see where the problem is.

  1. Take your battery to an auto parts store and have it load tested
  2. Use a pair of automotive jumper cables, connect the black one to the battery "-" and to a clean spot on the engine block, perhaps a bolt head.
  3. connect the red cable to the battery "+" terminal and touch the other end to the starter terminal where the cable connects. The starter should turn over.
  4. If the starter turned over move the red cable end back to the terminal on the solenoid that goes to the starter to se if the started turns over.
  5. If the starter turned over move the red cable end back to the terminal on the solenoid that goes to the battery and connect it there. Now take a small jumper wire from the red jumper to the small terminal of the solenoid, the solenoid should close and the starter turn over.
  6. If that worked then move the red cable to the other end of the battery cable and repeat the process.
