formariz 11,849 #1 Posted December 18, 2020 As far as power tools go here, the bandsaws are the most used ones. I am not a believer in standard 3/4 materials it being too thick or too thin most of the times so I do lots of resawing pretty much on a daily basis. For that band saw blades need to be perfectly sharpened. I do that myself here without removing blades by using diamond impregnated burrs. Unlike ordinary ones these do not fall apart and last a while. I use table as a guide hooking burr under tooth and leveling tool flat on table. Tension from blade wanting to go back down is enough to sharpen tooth while I mentally count to 10 on each tooth. Burr turns clockwise into tooth keeping it from slipping out. Saw and anything plugged into that line starts vacuum automatically cleaning any metal dust. After I clean blade removing caked on dust and at same time removing and burrs on its sides from the sharpening. For that I use a brass bristled brush while I use the saw on reverse. I use reversible motors in most of my machinery this being one of the many functions for that. End result is evident on slicing through a chunk of hard maple making paper thin veneer with barely a mark from the saw on it. One is a specialized resaw band saw I use regular carbon steel wood blades along with carbide and stelite tipped blades on the resaw.
