ebinmaine 72,382 #1 Posted December 14, 2020 I went to pick up a belt for Trina's 867 the other day and the only one they had available was a cloth-sided green equipment type belt which appears to be the right size but I have not tried to install it yet. NAPA part number was 3L330W Am I okay to use that or do I NEED to have a regular automotive rubber belt?
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,441 #2 Posted December 14, 2020 Click on the fuzzy picture in the link. The information available suggest there are 2 different belt lengths so know which one you need. Garry
squonk 43,714 #3 Posted December 14, 2020 Eric it will work, But, I find regular notched Automotive alternator belts work the best. More money of course but to me they work much better. I'll have the Napa # in a minute!

wallfish 18,055 #6 Posted December 14, 2020 Rubber sided belt for the SG. There's not much belt to surface area on the SG pulley.
71_Bronco 1,072 #7 Posted December 15, 2020 (edited) I'll have to check out what I got when I ordered one for my Commando 8. I got an aftermarket "direct replacement" made by a company called D&D industries" off the evil bay. I didnt think this belt was as super critical like a drive belt or deck belt, so I went aftermarket. I think mine was not cloth covered, but also not notched. Edit: Belt is WH part number 1583, 3V 3/8 × 31-1/2 O.C. Edited December 15, 2020 by 71_Bronco
ClassicTractorProfessor 5,370 #8 Posted December 15, 2020 The belt you have will work, but not as well as a rubber belt will. I've got one of the green cloth sided belts on the 753, same scenario I needed one that day and thats all they had on hand at the parts store. Most times it starts the tractor with no problems, but once in a while if the engine stops in just the right spot I will hit the starter button and the belt will slip for a second or so before it bites and cranks over. With the old rubber belt that was on it before I never had that problem

I'd say it's a cloth sided belt that was a touch out of spec and got "adjusted". Never seen the like of it. I'll swap for a notched one...
squonk 43,714 #10 Posted December 15, 2020 Cloth belts and "A" and "B" belts are actually "fractional horsepower" belts designed for electric motors

Ever seen a trimmed belt?? I've only been around belts since the late 80s.... Didn't know that was a thing.
