ok, since you haven't heard from any one yet, i'll take a shot. this is what I would do... remove the flywheel after cleaning as much debris awat from it as possible. then using compressed air, blow all remaining decris out of the area covered by the flywheel. as long as you don't disturb the gap between the coil and the stator, you shouldn't need to reset it. clean all the housings up, and you should get great airflow around the block. make sure all the covers are in place to direct the airflow properly. good luck with it, and let us know if this helps! and by the way.. :omg:

Not sure what motor this flywheel is on but in general.....

There will be a nut holding it to the crank snout, take that off.

Usually there will be a couple of threaded holes(1/4" or 5/16"),chase the threads out so you can thread bolts into them.

You will need a puller for this.

Bolt the puller onto the flywheel and tighten the center colt againt the crank snout, make sure the puller bolt has a "foot" so it does not scare the end of the crank.

Once you have the puller bolt tight, good and tight, give the puller bolt a SHARP,QUICK smack with a hammer.Very likely the flywheel will pop loose of the taper on the crank snout.

You may very likely find an accumulation of dust and dirt that needs blown off.

As for an ignition coil,if you only remove the flywheel there should be no reason to have to make any adjustments once the flywheel back on.

Once the flywheel is back on and the nut is snugged up you will need to tighten the nut up to factory spec(in your engine service manual)

Hope this helps.

go to wheelhorse tractors section, there is a very good tutorial on posting pictures posted by kj4kicks. it's in the "pinned topics" at the top of the page. when you open the topic, you will find a link to click that will take you to the post authored by nylyon, it tells you all about posting pics! good luck with the tractor... :omg:

You shouldn't need to remove the flywheel to clean all the crud out, just take off all the cowlings and give it a pressure wash if youhave a pressure washer ,otherwise it's down to a scraping and a wire brush to get all the crud out between the fins. I don't think you can alter the coils in the flywheel as they are only for charging thats if you have an external car type ignition coil.

You have to be carefull you don't get any water in the ignition points as they don't go if they get wet.

Michael, not sure about the water on your side of the pond :omg: but mine in the midwest USA reeks havoc on electricals.

I wouldn't want to spray water under pressure into the charging stator if there is one.

I have pulled flywheels that were so packed with crud I wondered how it did not throw the motor out of balance.
