Headlight ?

Recommended Posts

Mikefeds

Was working on the C-141 hood and took the headlight out to clean up and so I could pail the hood.  When I took the light out I found the white background paint all peeling and literal fell out.

question is ... I want to paint it again .... do I use a special white paint or just a plain white...and gloss or matte ? And can I get away with stainless bolts instead of rivets to re-install ?

btw... hood came out great !  Thanks in advance for any suggestions !

Gloss white paint or some reflective stuff from Eastwood.  Bolts are Ok

I should add i have started using the foil tape used for duct work.  If you switch to LEDs you can  line the back and even cover the openings on the top of the housing to increase reflection

I paint mine with a gloss bright silver metallic. I think that it reflects better than the white does.

I riveted mine back in. They were 1/8 if I recall correctly.

If you use screws, you'll have to use counter sunk ones, as the headlight lens sits on top of the screw heads.

Just a thought, but don't they make a spray "chrome" in a can? Never used it before, so no idea how it comes out. Wonder how that would work.

I've seen many claims as to "chrome" spray paint, but I've yet to find a product that really lives up to its claim.

I used the Eastwood stuff...unimpressive.  Try foil tape if you use LEDs

WHX??

I tried polishing one to a bright aluminum. Didn't work out the best. I like the silver tape idea tho.
