Gene_S 93 #1 Posted May 19, 2009 Hi Everyone, Today I stopped at upholstery shop in Indianapolis to see how much they would charge to remake the seat for my wife's lawn ranger (black with white down the center). He wanted $225 to make a new cushion. Is that about right? Does anyone know of replacements that are being made and are for sale? I thought I had read where someone was selling some at last years Wheel Horse show, is that true and can anyone tell me who they were?. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Gene :omg:
Michael Bullington 5 #2 Posted May 19, 2009 we had a few done at the local uphostery shop and I think it was around $100 each Michael
refracman 167 #3 Posted May 20, 2009 Best place and cheapest is a boat upholstery shop, They'll have the white and black in stock ( usually use scraps)and do them on their down time. Get most done in the 30 to 60 dollar range. good luck
GlenPettit 1,717 #4 Posted May 20, 2009 There is a gal in Wauseon, Ohio (near Toledo) that is making these, they have been selling for $
Rollerman 290 #5 Posted May 21, 2009 $225 sounds like a premium price Gene. We do have a member on here "Lane Ranger" who's relation made one for his LR. He hinted at on time she may make some up & market them? I have a friend thats not a member here at RS & had a few done up for $40 apiece!! by a local upolsterer. The look good but not right out the door from South Bend good. I'm trying to find out more.... :omg:

Gene_S 93 #7 Posted May 21, 2009 Thanks guys I appreciate all the info. I want to get the seat done and then the wife's lawn ranger will be all done, and then its on to the 500 special! I felt the guy just didn't want to do the seat and just shot me a high price. Duke, I just got the first two issues of LAGC and just love the magazine and really enjoyed your artical! It's a great hobby! Thanks, Gene :omg:
marvairplanes 34 #8 Posted May 21, 2009 The Wauseon, Ohio people are not making re-upholstered seats. They are selling "slip covers" that install over the existing seat padding, or metal seat pan. They have a pull string that you tie under the seat to keep them stretched and tight. They look good and fit nice...at a decent price. They are all "hand made", and as a result, no 2 are precisely alike. The last one I installed seemed to be about 1/4 inch too small, and it was a challenge getting it over the edges of the pan, but once on, looked good.
