Hodge71 665 #1 Posted May 19, 2009  I never had a hydraulic lift on any of the wheel horses in my family and was wondering what is acceptable creep fo a lift. The deck on my '96 416 hydro creeps down in about 1.5 or 2 days. I'm not sure what is considered normal. Its not leaking oil externally If i'm having this problem now i'm kinda concerned that when I put the weight of that 44 inch two stage snowblower on the front Its really gonna be an issue. Also if theres something you guys can tell me to replace or what might cause it to happen or hopefully tell me its ok and not to worry. I used to have a deere 4120 that the loader bucket would do the same thing That is until it burned to the ground due to an electrical problem. The tractor had to have been made either on a Friday or Monday . But I digress, thats why I own o Wheel Horse now. Thanks Jeff
Jim_M 179 #2 Posted May 19, 2009 Jeff, That's a perfectly acceptable amount of leak down, in fact it's probably about the same as the day it was new. If you have no external leaks then I would say you have nothing to worry about. Jim
Workin_Horses 14 #3 Posted May 19, 2009 I think that is pretty normal for hydraulics, with the engine(hydraulic pump) not running there is nothing to oppose the force of gravity. I was always told to lower any hydraulic implements when parking, so that's what I have always done.
jtmoyer 1 #4 Posted May 20, 2009 my 520 does the same thing. i love the electric lift on the 417 no creep and i can lift the attachment with the motor off. i keep thinking of taking the hydro lift off the 520 and putting on an electric one.
