horsecrazy 0 #1 Posted May 19, 2009 Hello there, it all started out looking for a garden tractor this spring. I bought a 1267 with a deck, snow thrower, and tiller. Well now it is being painted from top to bottom! Then last week I ran across a little guy I thought was a RJ58. It needs some TLC but I couldnt turn it down. The only nubers I can find are by the gear shifter that says N31-9. Maybe you guys can help me out with it. So anyone with some advise, Im all ears. Also it needs some parts so if you know where to point me, that would be great! I tried to upload some pics but it tells me that it cant load this type of file? I suppose I can email if someone is interested. mnandbeyond@yahoo.com Thanks again Steven
HorseFixer 2,013 #2 Posted May 19, 2009 Horsecrazy Ok Examine The Picture Below Of These Round Hoods. Look At Picture #1 Any Tractor that has a Spindley looking lever with a round Knob on the right side that engages belts is reffered to as a Pond RJ-35 or RJ-55,56,57 Picture #2 is a 1958 RJ and still has the straight steel axel like the RJ-35's but you can see it now has a Unidrive transmission. A 58 or 59 RJ are virtually the same. Picture #3 look at the front axel, you can plainly see that the axel is now made of Cast Iron and the hood now has ribs molded into it on top and in front to strengthen it from the weight of the gas tank (dont get me started on that, <_< its a sore subject with me). Picture # 4 is the cleanest 550 suburban in the world!! this was the first tractor with production electric start, So anyways there ya go what does yer look like?
