Goofey 89 #1 Posted November 2, 2020 (edited) Was thinking of doing a swap. I like the swayed from 520 because it is wide. Dont like the swayed part though. Is there a straight axle that is just as wide or wider? Perhaps also stronger? Saw a thread about D series front axles some time ago but I cant find it again. If you have access to a few pieces of metal it's surprisingly simple how easy it would be to build your own axle. WheelhorseBob 1,550 #3 Posted November 3, 2020 I have a D-series axle but strangely enough no D-series. The axle isn’t wide and has more drop. Also the pivot pin mount is much wider. The beam going across is stick straight up & down but has a couple steps in it that I put in and also leans forward approximately two inches to give me extra wheelbase along with the width. I'm fairly sure I included some pictures somewhere in the Colossus build. In my particular yard and acreage I have almost NO level spots whatsoever so the front tires are pretty much ALWAYS at some sort of odd angle to each other or the ground or the rear tires. Because of that and because of the low speed that I am always going I did mine pretty much purely by eyesight. It's important to remember that this is a garden tractor that's only going to be moving at about 6.5 to 7 mph. IMHO... Yes, obviously, you want to get the angles as close as you can.
