Vurge 158 #1 Posted October 31, 2020 A Kohler M8s! Probably would have dropped right in the 606 right? Electric start AND it has a 15amp charging circuit... Wouldn't have needed the Predator or the the S/G I stuffed under the hood! The throttle/governor levers were a little bent up so I haven't run it yet though. The only thing I've done is hit it with a shot of starting fluid to make sure it cranks and runs for a couple seconds. So far so good. Drove 2 hours for this $300 package deal. I originally went to get the Kohler twin (future Kawasaki Mule repower) but couldn't pass up these other motors. The twin runs on liquid propane like a forklift so that'll be fun. The blue Kohler looked like what's in the C-121 so I got it as well. Looks like I should be set for motors for a while!

echris 1,425 #3 Posted November 1, 2020 (edited) Great score. I know some Briggs motors can be converted from propane to gas just by removing the aluminum propane intake manifold from between the carb and the engine intake manifold. Remove all the rest of the propane plumbing regulator etc.., plug in a fuel line and you're good to go. I'm sure others are different though. I've seen those propane conversions that run off BBQ tanks. This one is a little more complicated because it runs off liquid so it requires a forklift tank and hose. I have to source those parts, but the benefit is that it won't ice up as easily. In theory anyway. All I know about propane engines is what I've starter reading since getting the Kohler. 🤷♂️
echris 1,425 #5 Posted November 2, 2020 (edited) Yeah, I missed the liquid part. I had a used generator that was given to me with the propane gas conversion kit. It was a cinch to convert to gasoline. Although, I think the only difference is the fuel intake, and if I remember correctly, the valves in the propane motor are harder than their gas counterparts? I haven't dealt with one of them in years, so don't quote me on that. Edited November 2, 2020 by echris
