Bostman67 54 #1 Posted October 22, 2020 None of the operating templates are visible. I need help with shifting, forward and reverse. Also, I can’t get tractor to freely roll. I’m reading about a valve under seat. It was moving or being pushed fine so what happened? I found the brake and possible clutch on left. Everything was frozen and rusted. I loosened everything. Stepney 2,354 #2 Posted October 22, 2020 To drive..? Well, you push the big tall lever beside the dash forward to go forward, pull back to reverse. Looks like an older hydro. That silver bit on the belt cover was added to attempt fixing the lack of control the older ones suffered with, I can see notches. There used to be notches all along it Im sure to help hold the lever. No knob on your older model either. There's a bolt head that will be visible right on top o the transmission, that will rotate. Search up a manual in the files section and everything you need to know will be right there. Brake pedal only stops the tractor. The lever between your legs off to the right is the drive clutch.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,522 #3 Posted October 22, 2020 Here is what we have for the 1277. Look through them all because they are in no particular order. https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/search/?q=1277&quick=1&type=downloads_file Garry

wfrpalm 218 #5 Posted October 22, 2020 Just turn the tow valve +/- a quarter turn, do not try to remove it.

I haven't tried to engage transmission yet. I ordered a filter and will get some Type A hydrostatic transmission fluid. I guess I could just try and see which way it moves. Forward, Neutral, Reverse, right? Automatic. Can't be that hard. I've identified brake handle. But it feels to do other things also. I identified clutch on left, but it says its an Automatic. Then there's two levers on right side. One related to transmission. High or low?

Don't know if you can get type A transmission fluid anymore but don't get too worried about that. Old style Dex Merc is fine. The higher lever on the right hand side is your motion control, forward and reverse. The lever that is in the tunnel fairly close to the seat Mount but on the right hand side is your actual Park Brake. Mental note... Never ever ever engage that unless you are completely and totally stopped. I can't tell from the pictures whether that is engaged or not right now but it does take a fair amount of gumption to move it up and down. The large tall lever on the left hand side with the thumb push button at the top is your up and down for implements like mower or plow etc. The pedal on the left is also a break. There is linkage in the tunnel that is directly attached to the motion control lever and it just moves that lever to a neutral position. You don't need to ever use that left pedal if you don't want to. Highly recommended to stick with a Wix or Napa filter. If you take a look at my thread about my Charger Hydro Project you may find some information that will be helpful and I would be more than happy to take short videos to let you know what is where.. 2

I've been rolling/ pushing it around. I "played" with levers. Now I have some idea about reverse and forward. The dash is in pieces as I clean it out, sand it and replace switches and lights. No moving anywhere this week.
