Wland 8 #1 Posted October 12, 2020 (edited) I have been a fan of round hood wheel horse tractors for a long time, and finally got my hands on two. I think I want to sell one to fund fixing up the other. One is a 654 with incorrect engine. The other i think is a 702 but not sure. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. Witch one to keep? Also an idea of what one would possibly sell for would help alot on knowing what I can spend. Edited October 12, 2020 by Wland 1

WHNJ701 4,165 #3 Posted October 12, 2020 I think you did even better, looks like a 701 with the 702 hood. Nice finds 1 1
Pullstart 67,043 #4 Posted October 12, 2020 Yeah, nice! I’d vote for the Kohler powered 701, what a great first buy! Thanks for the pictures, we all like them more than about anything... ‘cept another Wheel Horse in the shed!

Wland 8 #6 Posted October 12, 2020 What chance would I have finding the correct hood?

Congratulations on finding two round hoods in North Carolina, in western NC they are scarcer than hen's teeth. You could place a wanted ad on this site, never know what will turn up. https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/classifieds/wanted/?do=form&d=2
8ntruck 7,877 #8 Posted October 12, 2020 Welcome. Post a want add in the wanted section of this forum. There is probably a hood out there for you.
Achto 29,433 #9 Posted October 12, 2020 Great find!!! I like them both!! If I could only keep 1 it would be the 701 for sure. The big difference between a 701 hood and a 702 hood is that a 701 has a solid grill instead of the slotted grill. Along with placing a want add on here also keep your eye on . I've seen them on there from time to time. Going rate for a 701 hood is around $150, give or take a few bucks.
roadapples 6,983 #10 Posted October 12, 2020 If you only need one, I bet that young man in your first pic would love to have the other.... 2
WHNJ701 4,165 #11 Posted October 13, 2020 Maybe you can trade or sell that hood? The shifter is wrong too for the 701, should be straight. Yeah I would keep both, they are garden tractors they don't take up much room 2
Wland 8 #13 Posted October 13, 2020 Thanks for all the information and warm welcome. Trying to get a game plan. I'm pretty sure I want to fix up 701 and also keep the 654 for a later project. I have learned tonight that the hood and shifter are incorrect. The dash is not plastic and it has the wrong seat. Wod the seat on the 654 be correct for the 701 and is it a wheel horse seat at all? WHNJ701 4,165 #14 Posted October 13, 2020 Should be a square seat pan, who knows what that pan is from, looks similar to the one on my case. That seat would have had foam and a cover. The 701 is definitely a winner!
Jennifer 1,878 #16 Posted October 13, 2020 (edited) The seat on the 654 would in fact work on the 701.. my husband and I have been told the only difference is the seat needs painted white but someone else on here might be able to shed light on that for sure!
