Trying to id what WH this hood will fit. I have heard measurements can determine some but don't know.

Any ID help appreciated.

Should fit most round hood tractors '62 - '64 that have the square gas tank / dash combo.

If you measure on the top of the hood from the edge by the gas tank to the seam at the front, a 753 and other round hoods will be 15-1/8”. A hood for an 854 measures 16-1/8”. It is longer to accommodate a taller air cleaner that the 8HP Kohler used. Also 753 & 854 hoods have a rolled edge on the bottom of the hood sides for added strength. -JD-

Looks like the one on my Lawn Ranger from 1962. I think my hood is common for a few other models as stated above.

Has the part number of the hood been determined?

I have a list of hoods and what they fit.

No Garry, I have no idea what the part number is nor how to find out.

The picture of your hood doesn’t appear to have the rolled edge on the hood sides so that will eliminate the 753 & 854 hoods. So it probably would be a 62 Ranger hood like @71_Bronco has or possibly a 702 hood. Hope that helps! -JD-

Researched hoods years ago.

Here is what I have for 9-slot hoods

Hood part number 2582 used on

1963 models 633, 653, 753

15-1/8" from tank opening to grill seam

Hood part number 4415 used on

1962 32E and 32R Lawn Ranger

1962 models 502, 552, 702

1963 33E and 33R Lawn Ranger

xxxxxxx from tank opening to grill seam

Hood part number 4975 used on

1964 34E and 34R Lawn Ranger

1964 models 604, 654, 704

1965 L105 and L155 Lawn Ranger

1966 L106 and L156 Lawn Ranger

1967 L107 and L157 Lawn Ranger

1968 1-1631 and 1-2631 Lawn Ranger

No tank opening at the rear

Hood part number 4986 used on

1964 854 and possibly 754

16-1/8" from tank opening to grill seam

Perhaps someone can add the lengths for the 4415 and 4975 hoods

Looks like mine is 15 1/8" The LR marked one has the rolled edge and not cut out.

Thanks all.

I'll measure mine in a bit.

My hood is not original to my tractor though, so not sure how much it will help, but I'll still measure anyways.

Edit:

Just measured mine, 15-1/8" from tank opening to nose-seam. My hood has the sides rolled / folded under.

Not sure what that makes mine. I know its not the original hood to my '62 Lawn Ranger 32R, and it looks like the rolled edges confirm that.
