echris 1,425 #6 Posted October 3, 2020 Speaking of technology that doesn't belong on a WH... My kids needed new earbuds recently and I found these for an amazing deal. I paid around $90 for three sets on sale. https://www.newegg.com/black-soudcore-liberty-air-wireless/p/0TH-033Y-00092?Item=9SIACCUAHR7380 I usually wear big earmuffs while mowing but I tried these out and was amazed that I could listen to music while mowing without blasting it too loud. They're passive noise-cancelling, which just means when you select the right plugs, they seal your ear up tight. If you can find them on sale and have a Bluetooth phone, they're a great deal. 953 nut 59,789 #7 Posted October 3, 2020 I don't need one of those super-whamodyne USB adapters, my GPS plugs right into the socket so I can find my way home after a dizzying day of mowing!
Pullstart 66,641 #8 Posted October 3, 2020 I normally like to listen to the sound of a Kohler humming, but the noise cancelling muffs are surely a great addition to the fleet!

I agree, my muffs have been sitting idle since I got the WH until the got the new earbuds. It's so much quieter than my old Husky. But my hearing has been taking a beating since I was a kid. I play guitar and when young, of course I turned the amp up to 11. Just trying to save what's left.

I get that. My brother and I jammed every day after school for years. He still does, but I moved on to race cars, loud speakers and motorcycles, among other things!

pfrederi 18,638 #13 Posted October 4, 2020 I prefer to listen to my equipment. It will usually give you some warning about problems... One thing I do not like about my cylcone rake is it is noisy..very noisy. I have to wear muffs but you can't hear what the Tractor engine and deck are doing over the cylcone racket.

Boys I gotta agree here. I almost never turn on the radio in the work trucks. I like to listen to the big diesels sing. On the crane I listen as much as look. Groaning and creaking is normal but you get used to the often heard noises and question the ones that just aren't quite right.
pfrederi 18,638 #17 Posted October 7, 2020 Just to validate my comment. I have been brush hogging for a few days with my 76 yr old Farmall M. Done about 17 acres so far. Yesterday was working along when I heard a change in the noise. Stopped her and found that the roll pin in the overrunning clutch had failed and the PTO shaft was about to pull off the tractor. That would have been exciting and dangerous a 6 ft long steel shaft, U joints and clutch flying around (the heavy blades and stump jumper have a lot of momentum).

hcminis 1,700 #19 Posted October 7, 2020 well I'm doing a little "tunes" update to the GT16. NO....I didn't destroy a perfectly good Wheel Horse radio....LOL This one was a spare from another make. Tore a part a miniature bluetooth speaker and mounted it to a plate that I made. Should be perfect for sitting around at shows. Not too loud.
