JohnD 145 #1 Posted September 29, 2020 I changed the oil on my KT-17 the weekend before last and this weekend I noticed a slight oil leak. The drain pipe (15, 16, 17, 18) seems a little loose in the block (15 or 16). https://www.partstree.com/models/01-17ke03-c-175-toro-garden-tractor-1983/twin-cylinder-engines-25/ Should I torque it ("raise the drain") after I change the oil, or is that just going to keep making it looser? How would I tighten these threads? Seems like the wrong place for Teflon tape or pipe dope. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Greentored 3,220 #3 Posted October 8, 2020 According to the old man's 'well worn, abused, and seldom maintained' 317 Deere, I think the KT-17s had a 'self changing' oil system. Not sure whether it burns or leaks more, pretty sure he buys kitty litter and oil by the 55 gallon drum. The ol girl needs to be taken out to pasture and shot, but she just keeps smokin, I mean chuggin, along..... If the old man can't kill it, its a helluva engine no matter what they say.....
