Tecumseh HH-120

Recommended Posts

Cetan08

I am working on an HH-120 and both valves are bent. No damage to the cylinder or head so have no idea how it happened. The guy said he had been running it for a couple hours and it just quit. The problem is that I cannot find valves for it. Are they still available or is there a fix by using other valves?

Thanks

Is it feasible to get good used parts?

Believe the 100 and 120 use the same valves..?

NOS are available but scarce and pricey. Good used set would do you find on an engine like that.. think I know someone here with an engine like that.

In fact you do.

If I can help out I'd be glad to.

If I need to buy a valve removal tool I've been thinking of that anyway.

So if I understand this correctly, there is a used set available. I would be interested in getting them.

So what it comes down to is that  @Stepney Spenser gave me an hh100 engine to just put in my stash of parts stuff. If the valves in that will work you're welcome to them.

I will need somebody to tell me what tool I need to remove them.

I'm not sure what they use now. I have an antique tool that my Grandfather used on old flathead engines but it works great on small engines.

I ordered one today. None available locally.

Should see it by next Friday.

If the valves are usable to you, they're yours for postage.

I would be more than happy to pay you for them. Just let me know.

I'd be willing to trade them for a 92 to 95 F150. Green. 5 spd. AC.

But I'd settle for less.

Yo Mainer,

Does your HH have a good Solid State coil, I d be very interested in that, I have a nice HH100 I got of Ebay for a 69 Workhorse. But it came with bad coil. I know parts are expensive, but ill pay no problem for the right part.

Used to live in Lisbon Falls for years, married a county girl from Presque Isle. Currently live in Maryland for work.

Many thanks

Hiya 'Creek!

No sir, no ignition on this one.

Not something I've tried personally but I understand you can use a '70s vintage GM four-pin module some sort of ABS sensor as a replacement ignition. There are some very interesting videos on YouTube and on other websites.

You get back up in this area for a visit don't be afraid to stop in.

We have a fellow in town that has a 92 in mint condition. Rarely brings it out.

I have two donor motors that still have

their valves still in them. I can take them out and send them to you. Just add postage.

Randy I've got one I was going to check at my house as well. Only thing is I don't know when I'm going to have time to do it. If you can take a minute and pop those out and get them in the mail it may be faster than I can.

No worries either way but you may be able to get that engine up and running faster than me.

I'm hoping to pick one up in a couple years. Maybe three.

I've been without a good reliable truck for about five or six years.

We have a utility trailer but of course that's just not the same....

You would have to ask on the one of the Sears Suburban groups but if I recall correctly apparently a Chevy small block valve fits (of course you have to grind the stem to get the correct clearance).
