Broken Gas Tank

Recommended Posts

71_Bronco

Was out working on my '62 Lawn Ranger today, mocking up the Wisconsin engine in it. I went to put on the hood, and screw in the thumb screws into the gas tank.

First one went in fine, no issues. Second one just pushed through. I pulled off the hood, and the bottom corner of the tank looks like it is broken off. The bottom half of the threaded hole is gone.

Is there any way to fix this? Or am I doomed to run this without a hood until I find a new gas tank?

Edit:

I took A picture of both sides. It looks like I'm missing a little steel clip maybe? I'm new to this style gas tank.

Edit #2:

Am I missing number 195 in this parts diagram? 195 is called a "Retainer", and is WH Part # 1466.

Oh, and a teaser pic of the Wisconsin on the frame :shifty:

On my one 854 I repaired mine by epoxy putty and threaded studs. I think there is pics on here of how I did it.
