Al C. 1,428 #1 Posted September 16, 2020 I’m considering purchasing a 520xi (Koehler engine). It has been sitting indoors for two years and doesn’t start. What is the likelihood that I can tinker with it when I go to pick it up in order to get it moving and loaded? Curious on opinions.
midpack 1,011 #2 Posted September 16, 2020 I guess that would depend on why it doesn't start and how long you plan to spend at the sellers. after 2 years it's probably going to have carb issues. Non running machines usually cost less too
Al C. 1,428 #3 Posted September 16, 2020 Exactly with regards to the cost. But at about 1,300 lbs. with deck. I’m thinking I won’t be able to load it without a winch, let alone will the transmission disengage so it can roll.
Pullstart 67,042 #4 Posted September 16, 2020 The XI transmission has a neutral. Just disengage the park brake and it’ll roll free

A ****** block is a heavy-duty pulley inside a metal casing. It is primarily designed for handling heavy goods, working as a pulley point that can redirect the course of a winch line. ****** blocks are also used to increase the lifting or pulling capacity of wire hoists and winches. It is a S N A T C H Block! Edited September 16, 2020 by 953 nut The Politically Correct Pornography detector didn't like ****** Block!
PeacemakerJack 10,743 #6 Posted September 17, 2020 Although they are heavy machines, the fact that you can put them in neutral as Kevin stated, they do move pretty easily given that the tires are inflated. That would be a great machine if it is a good price and in decent shape. Lots of possibilities there...
