Replacing plastic seat pan bushing with bronze

Recommended Posts

Vurge

In the disassembly process for my 656 the brittle plastic bushings on the seat pan bolts cracked.  I found some bronze bushings to fit and I honestly love them.  So much better than the plastic originals.

If anyone is looking, these were 3/8 x 1/2 x 1/4 bronze flanged bushing.

I replaced mine with a thicker wall nylon one from the local orange store. Mine were shot on my Commando 8. They have held up okay, its been a year now and I don't see any wear on them (but I don't open and close the seat pan very often).

May swap to metal ones at some point, but for now, the plastic ones are okay.

agree with above on  bushing replacement , that is SOP for me along with matching LUBRICATION ,ON ANY MOVEMENT POINTS. i continue to be amazed at how many fail to lubricate just about anything , yet its difficult rusty " function "  , is not telling them of its problem ?. jmo, pete
