wrightorchid 261 #1 Posted August 31, 2020 (edited) There are a couple issues of great concern I have. There is oil coming out of the breather tube. I had been running it for about 2 hours total, cutting some very tall grass. Overall, it runs well, but this would seem to indicate excessive crank case pressure (based on searching here in the forum) that leads to a bad valve. This motor has about 600 hours on it. I really hope this is not the case, as horses are really rare in Florida. . There is oil coming out of the back of the fuel pump pulse line. I will try to add another clip or a smaller one, to get a better seal, This line was just replaced. There is enough oil loss that it is now about middle of the min/max on the oil stick. Prior work and issues were covered under my previous topic 520H with Water. Edited August 31, 2020 by wrightorchid
lynnmor 7,817 #2 Posted August 31, 2020 Check that the breather is clean and assembled properly. Check the compression, bad rings, piston or valve guides are three places to get blowby. I seem to remember that you were trying to get the engine running with suspect oil and possibly fuel contamination.
wrightorchid 261 #3 Posted September 1, 2020 Yes,This is the same tractor. I got it running fine, but occasionally would throttle up or down periodically. I thought this would be a fun project, but it's been much more complicated, although I have learned a lot. I fear it just might have been a waste of money. Any compression kits you can recommend? lynnmor 7,817 #4 Posted September 1, 2020 Any cheap compression tester from the chain auto parts stores will be good enough.
