Mr Magoo 226 #1 Posted August 26, 2020 Going through a milk crate of parts. Some I can identify easily, the pump and the cylinder, but the rest I'm not sure about. I really don't know what the pump and cylinder came off of. I'm guessing the bracket with the pulley may be part of that system also. The pump and cylinder are in rough shape obviously and I am wondering if they would be usable to someone given their condition. The starter/generator does not seem like it was off of a WH and may have been from a Bolens.
ebinmaine 72,993 #2 Posted August 26, 2020 Cylinder is most likely rebuildable. Not sure about the pump. Interesting assortment.
Achto 29,433 #3 Posted August 26, 2020 (edited) Hien Werner made the HY pumps for Wheel Horse. Rotation of the pump will determine which side of the engine it will run off of. If you look where the pulley shaft goes into the pump there will be directional arrows showing rotation. Hard to tell but it looks like yours is on the CCW side of the pump. If the shaft is on the counter clock wise side, then the pump may be mounted & used the same as a Wheel Horse HY pump. If the shaft is on the clock wise side of the pump then the pump will need to run off of the flywheel side of the engine in order to work. I have a Raider with a Hien Werner pump mounted to work off of the fly wheel. Wheel Horse mounted their pump like this. Lowell has rebuild kits for Hien Werner pumps. Before you order you will need to take the pump apart to see which style spring you have. He also rebuilds the rams. https://www.wheelhorsepartsandmore.com/hydraulics.html Note: The valve body has a slight tapper. If you remove the valve body, it needs to slide towards the inside of the pump. If you pull it towards the out side you may damage it. Also do not tap on the pulley shaft unless the gear cover on the inside of the pump is removed, or you will damage/shatter the pump gears. With the starter gen, again rotation is the key. If it rotates clock wise it can be used on a Wheel Horse. Counter clock wise would be for a Cub Cadet or any tractor the ran the Starter gen off the PTO side of the engine. Easy way to check rotation, clamp a cable to the body of the s/g and to the negative side of a battery. Clamp a cable to the "A" post on the s/g and touch the other end to the positive post on a battery. This should spin the s/g so that you can determine rotation. 953 nut 60,353 #4 Posted August 26, 2020 (edited) Your S/G shows as a CW rotation so it would work for a though the regulator wouldn't bolt on directly. Some of the Hein-Werner parts probably fit a 953/1054 or perhaps a HY-2 or HY-3 lift. Got no idea on the idler and mounting bracket but the gear looks like a steering shaft gear. JoeM 8,435 #5 Posted August 26, 2020 Wouldn't it be nice to have some sort of fact catalog. All those small details about old tractors and add on's. It is amazing how much information is around this web site.
Mr Magoo 226 #6 Posted August 28, 2020 Thank you all for the information. They are nothing I can use so I gave them all to someone local to me that would use them.
