1&only 0 #1 Posted May 11, 2009 Other than removing the deck, is there a way to sharpen the blades on the mower deck on my 211-4? Thanks, 1 & only
wh500special 2,054 #2 Posted May 11, 2009 Sure. Get a Hi-Lift jack and stick it under the discharge chute. Lift the right side of the tractor up until it flips over on its side. You might want to scrape the accumulated schmutz from under there too while you're at it. Joking aside, the deck on the 200 series is very easy to remove. You should be able to do it in less than a minute on a concrete driveway. Drop the mower to the ground. Remove the belt. Disengage the spring loaded front hitch pins (2) under the front axle. Pull the two hairpin cotters at the rear hanger brackets. Flip the locks (the things the hairpins were holding) forward. Lift the rear of the deck and scoot it forward an inch. Cut the wheels all the way to the left. Slide the deck out the right side. Honestly, it takes maybe a minute. Putting it back on takes maybe two minutes. You can use car ramps like the Craftsman guys do, but by the time you get them out of the garage and drive the tractor up them you can have the deck off, leaning against a tree, and be working at busting the nuts loose on the spindles. Good luck, Steve
GlenPettit 1,714 #3 Posted May 12, 2009 Rather than removing the deck; we lift the tractor way up, (we have an overhead lift on the ceiling on a track, Harbor Freight, $49, 750#) to almost
Don1977 604 #4 Posted May 17, 2009 I use a floor jack under the front axle. That gives me enough room to get my air wrench under the base.
