Bill D 2,248 #26 Posted July 21, 2020 (edited) Hi Ron, My neighbor has that same pump on a GT 1142 and it starts great. My dad's machine is starting great. Check for vacuum leaks between the engine block and pump and clean the carb. New fuel lines and shut off valve in the tank may help as well. The fuel shut off valve has a built in debris screen that may be partially clogged. Both my neighbor's tractor and my dad's have new fuel lines and shut off valves. RAM 22 #27 Posted July 22, 2020 Hi Bill, I did install a gasket between the tapped plate and the crankcase opening but I will check it again. The fuel lines are all new. I will try and check the inlet screen and look for a new shutoff valve. I will also start looking for other vacuum leaks.and clean the carb. Thanks for getting back to me. Bill D 2,248 #28 Posted July 22, 2020 Hi Ron, There is a small chance that you have a bad pump. If it's not holding a prime after it sits for awhile that would cause your starting issues when cold. Cleaning and rebuilding the carb and changing the shut off valve with it's built in filter would be my first choice. Do you use non ethanol fuel? My tractors seem to start better on it. These are pictures of my first bracket design that I used on my dad's tractor. Bill
