Help I.D. ing older Horse?/

Recommended Posts

glenn27

Hi--I'm going to post a couple pics here, that I also set up @ another web site--looking for info----Got this tractor in a deal (had to take everything type) a couple weeks ago...

At first I thpught it was a 1964 704 model, because there is a K181T in it--the only numbers I can find...But BPJunk has filled me in about the three spoke steering wheel on it, being an earlier model-

-front axle looks like an inverted wishbone--which is more in line with a 552 orf 62 or 63....Has the 4 sp. tranny and sleeve hitch on back..

thanks for any ideas!

glenn (puzzled and confused in Va.) :D

I still can't see enough of it to make a solid ID.....

It's looks like it could be a 633, but it will take some better pictures to know exactly.

i think it's something either 62 or 63, but weren't the 62/63 front axles one that had a recess in the casting? Like the Suburbans, only flipped over? 502? 633? Not a 603 unless it's had the steering wheel changed... the 603 had the half-moon steering wheel. :D

'61 and '62 had the "stepped" axle with the recesses on the front and back. (basically a '60/'61 mid-engine axle turned upside-down)

The also had a flat tie rod from spindle to spindle with a short drag link from the steering sector plate to the tie rod.

The fact that the center hole is open in the dash doesn't help, (there would either be an amp gauge there, or the filler plug with the toggle switch) and I can't see a hole in the hoodstand for a push button for the starter. :D

Glenn,

Can you get some close-up pictures of the hoodstand in front of the shifter? (below the dash)

thanks TT that's exactly what I was referring to :D I was just mistaken on my years. And yeah, I agree that hole in the dash doesn't help. Where's Stephen this morning? Maybe he can post some good pictures of his 633? (and dash) Glen, this tractor could just be a mutt... there's a few of those out there too!

Wiil take a couple more pics tomarrow and post--the front axle doesn't have that 'dish in' that the 62 in ur picture does--more smooth surface--

I'll see ya all on the flip! :D

Hard to say at this point point Glenn what you have come up with?

I'm going to lane towards a 633...but could be a mutt too.

I'll get out to the shop later & get some better pics of mine if it will help?

My 633 does have a hole in the hood stand though for the key switch....but is covered up by the shift decal.

It also have the plug in the center of the dash with the on/off toggle like TT mentioned.

I never removed the hood stand decal or the serieal number...masked them off & painted over.
