adsm08 3,339 #1 Posted July 10, 2020 So, my HY2 unit is giving me headaches again. A few weeks ago the system stopped working again, I kind of just blew it off and assumed fresh fluid after so many years blew out the seals in the ram since it was kind of acting like it was in full by-pass, and kept going. Well last weekend I noticed the pulley wobble under the belt guard, and pulled it all apart again. The set-screw in the pulley backed out allowing the pulley to move freely around the shaft. The shaft was undamaged but the pulley got egged out bad at the outer end. The inner end was basically untouched, which of course gave me a cone-shaped hole. I am in the process of trying to sleeve it. I drilled the hole out straight-ish, have a sleeve that fits the shaft correctly, I just need to turn down the outside of my insert so it fits correctly and drill a hole for the set screw. In the mean time, I found a current production pulley that is the correct dimensions: TB WOOD'S AK5112 I bought one off flea-bay, but they are widely available from a few places. As a short term fix it works. I am a little concerned about is that the TB Wood's pulley is HEAVY. The OE #5500 unit is either a high quality aluminum, or a low quality iron, or possibly some sort of pewter/pot metal. It only weighs a few ounces. The TB woods unit is easily over a pound, possibly close to two. I am worried that over the long-term the extra weight is going to wear the shaft into the body of the pump, or at least ruin the seal.
