Electric lift to manual conversion

Recommended Posts

Quickman

Hi group

first post. Have a 312-8 with electric lift and don’t like it. Would rather convert it back to a manual lift. Has anyone done this here? Besides side cover and the lift handle is the linkages all still there? Want to hook up snowblower this year and was thinking it wouldn’t be the best but maybe I’m wrong. Would possibly trade electric lift motor for Parts I need. Let me know what you all think. Thanks.

Can‘t answer that sensefully.

But here enough owners of 300 series, they can give you sensefully advice.

Please be patient.

First off Welcome to Redsquare

Another Michigander.

I personally would keep the electric lift for a snow blower but yes they can be converted to a manual lift. As a matter of fact there is a lot of guys that would love to get a electric lift. If you find someone that wants you could swop all the parts for there manual lift.  the side shield  has be changed with the manual handle.

The concept of changing over to a manual lift sounds rather straightforward, but in reality it would be a major PITA.  In the drawing below you will see item # 46, Lift Lever Shaft and the associated parts. To change out the shaft all you would do is remove the two pins # 14 and slide the old shaft out and then insert the new one through the Bell Crank # 19. Unfortunately on the vast majority of :wh:  the bell crank has rusted to the lift lever shaft  and you will need to remove the entire dash tower assembly and use a 20 ton or larger hydraulic press to get the old shaft out.

In my opinion you should stick with the electric lift.

@Quickman Myself not ever having had electric powered lift I'm unfamiliar with them.

What specifically is it that you don't like?

As to changing it out, perhaps you could round up another horse with a manual lift?

They are, after all, a herd animal.....

I would think that there is someone on here that would be glad to do the conversion in exchange for your parts.

This has also been my experience too.

After having an electric lift on a Simplicity 7117 I can't imagine wanting to go back to a manual lift. They are not fast but compared to jerking on a lever they are wonderful and I'd take one again in a minute.

What is it that you don't like about the electric lift?
