1257 Steering Wheel Replacement options

Recommended Posts

Ford120

I recently acquired a 1967 1257 with a steering wheel that is broken at both spokes.  As usual, it was "fixed" with wire and electrical tape.  I know that the same two-spoke wheel was used by Jacobsen on its own-braded tractors as well as the ones it produced for Ford and Minneapolis-Moline.  Ariens also used this same wheel on some of its models.  While trying to locate a good, used wheel, I stumbled across something else that might work: the Farmall Cub had a steering wheel that was 15 inches in diameter and mounted on a 3/4" keyed, shaft.  All of that matches the WH wheel.  Does anyone know if a Cub wheel can be used on these tractors?  Or does anyone know where a good, used wheel might be hiding?  Thank you.

Not sure about the options you've listed but I like the logic...

15" wheel would be nice for added leverage.

If you're not too concerned about being exactly original then many Wheelhorse steering wheels should work.

Lincoln at A to Z tractor in PA might have one.

Or, throw an ad in our wanted section once usable alternatives have been found.

If you find a look alike, maybe the center cap can be used, or a decal installed ? Not sure if a Repro has been made or not

Good Luck, I will follow this to see if you found one...GOOD LUCK and Welcome
