Farmer Dave 0 #1 Posted June 25, 2020 I have a Toro Wheelhorse Tractor Model #: 73428, Serial #: 8900284. I just replaced the clutch spring with a new one last fall, but when the clutch pedal is released, the clutch does not always engage. Is there a way to adjust it? gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,523 #2 Posted June 25, 2020 There is no adjustment except for the pedal location to suit the height of the operator. This is at the rear of the rod that goes to the pedal. There is a grease fitting in the pedal pivot. If you remove the drive belt guard there will be a small hydraulic cylinder between the chassis and the arm the drive belt idler pulley is bolted to. Remove that and see if it helps. It may be seizing up. It is there to prevent the clutch from being released too fast causing the front wheels to come off the ground. Early models did not have them and work with the spring alone. If wheelies are a problem slow the engine down when starting out and then bring it up to the desired speed. peter lena 9,311 #3 Posted June 25, 2020 i have singular clutch engagement springs on my horses, found the most important part of the mechanical function is LUBRICATED MOVEMENT POINTS , none of my clutches grab or jump ,and are easily controlled with the pedal . i regularly lubricate anything on my tractors that need it. from greasing to a simple choke /throttle cable lube for smoothness. just my experience, pete 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
